- Hugh Grant in Love Actually

The Valentine's Day assignment always has to be about love. Here's your last chance to pay tribute to someone you love in a homework assignment. Maybe write or find a love poem or story. You can surprise us by writing about a grandparent, an in-law, another relative, a pet... Use your imagination and be creative.

You know, I?ve always loved my family, but now?..I really, really love my family. When my brother Darryl died last month, my sister-in-law wanted to have him buried in New York where he was born and grew up. Being that we now live in Maryland, we needed a place in New York where family and friends could meet up and pay their respect. My mom, who lives in New York, has a one bedroom apartment so the first night that people came over, her house was packed, as you can imagine. I have two aunts in New York who both live in the same building as each other (one on the first floor, and the other directly above on the second floor). My aunts volunteered to have the gatherings at their homes. People were going from upstairs to downstairs and vice versa. My cousin made up the funeral Programs on his home computer. All we needed to provide him with was a picture of my brother. It came out lovely. One of my aunts wrote the Obituary and a beautiful poem, which my brother read at the funeral. To top it all off, my cousins got together and sang a nice song for my brother at the funeral. I cannot thank my family enough for their generosity and for opening up their homes for us. I love my family.
